I feel this trade is unbalanced myself, but the rules require three protests for review.

I count three in Binger, Small, and Smetana so it can be reviewed.

After careful consideration and reviewing the historical stats of the "prospect" in question, as well as several scouting reports, I feel duty bound to revoke this trade and ask the involved parties to try and come up with a better proposal.

REVOKED!

I've never seen a trade revoked or protested in my years with Mocksports. Frankly I think this sets up a dangerous precedent. This trade is revoked because is it unfair, is that the rationale? Since when does the LA or other league owners get to weigh in on the fairness of a trade? Apparently Tony's review of Stern's "historical stats" is more meaningful than Will's evaluation of Stern and his team's needs. If we are going to go this route, where exactly do we draw the line. There have been numerous trades throughout the history of Calhoun that seemed pretty one-sided to me. Never before has one been revoked.

The FBB rules state that a trade can be revoked if there is "demonstrable and conclusive evidence" of collusion. No one can seriously claim that Will and I are colluding.

I think this ruling is wrong. I think taking this approach in a veteran league like ours where almost all of us have won leagues, follow the game and are knowledgeable is a bad idea in general.

Ha. Join the Berra....

Dan, I am all for owners rights. I believe like you, that an owner should be able to determine what is best for his team with as little input from anyone else as is possible.

That said, the deal stunk.

You know it, I know it, we all know it. Stern is a 26 year old rule 5 guy, who just doesn't have much talent, nor a place to play in Boston. You're there, you know that.

If he was a Lastings Milledge type of prospect, this would have been fine.

This was the stolen base champ, who can swing a catagory by himself, plus the BA and Runs, for a AAA OF with no place to play in Boston and not much talent. A throw in, sure. As the sole player going back....

Sorry.

Don't take it personal. I've had my trades protested many a time. Just get pissed and go back to the lab and come up with something else. I have no doubt you will.

Tom

I am not taking it personally, I just don't believe trades should be subject to some league-wide vote. The only issue, in my humble opinion, that deserves any type of review is collusion. Absent collusion, each team should be able to make whatever deal they want.

Unless it drastically alters the face of the league which this one would have done. The SB leader, (Plus his BA and Runs) for someone who most likely would give nothing, would do that.

Ironically, Pods was just traded in Bell. Pods and Bedard for Jason Botts and Akinori Otsuka.

I did not revoke this trade due to league wide vote.

I followed the rules specifically. Three protests were logged, in fact I came in to approve the trade thinking Tom's was the only protest, but I then saw Binger and Smetana's protest too.

I believe all trades should be allowed unless they are demonstrably unbalanced. This one is rather obviously like trading Pods for a stick of gum.

Neither party stood up for three days to defend this trade after protests were made. I still have seen nothing from Will on why he wanted this deal. And trouble is, if he had shopped around I feel pretty sure he would have received several better offers.

I feel I did the right thing. Maybe if Will can convince me he expects Stern to start for him next season, this may stand up to scrutiny, butt this is one situation where scrutiny shrivels the subject.
