Okay, what do we want to do next year? I see two choices, each of which has two sub-choices.

1 - Stay with OnRoto for $50 per league per year.
A - Same old same old, unless by some miracle they get to our options
B - Tweak our rules to work withing OnRoto's existing FAAB system

2 - Move on.
A - Find someplace cheap and tweak our rules to compensate
B - Find someplace expensive that may accommodate our rules

If you pick either of the choices for #2, PLEASE add a site you would like to be considered. If you want to plug a site, go for it! I have not had the time to go randomly exploring, and I know I'm not going to, either.

Before I vote, could you give a little more background on what happened with onroto?

I agree with Bob, what happened that we need this vote. Did they raise the fee where we are at?

Can you please explain OnRoto's existing FAAB system?

I am with everyone else so far. What is happening that is causing the changes.

If there was a pool and payout for top 3 teams I would do that.

I don't want to make this a game for cash prizes. We have been doing it for bragging rights so far. Also $50/league doesn't sound too expensive to me. That's $5/person.

While I like the way our rules operate, the league is too antiquated with the manual transactions. Seeing who is available can take days, where it could be instant and automated if we used a better service. Time to move the leagues to modern times. I would suggest yahoo or CBS sports. Each should be free or cost about the same anyways.

I'm with those who would like a bit more explanation of what is going on here.
What is the current cost per league with OnRoto and what would the $$$ change actually entail?
Someone will actually do it for less than $50 per league? That seems pretty bare boned.
What rules would have to change?
kind lost here. but nothin new there

It's my understanding that OnRoto had made a commitment to us to adjust their software to meet Mocksports unique rules, allowing owners to post their own transactions live without need of the forums. Unfortunately they over-promised and under-delivered. We were forced to go back to using forum posts and LA's.

There was a growing feeling, noted by Justin above that the current system is antiquated. Logging in to check your box scores and standings to find your roster 2 or three days out of day - available players lists that are inaccurate due to the LA being behind - none of this is necessary with what is now available.

We are a dwindling few here. I've brought in two friends, both veteran FFB players over the past few years, neither who lasted the season. They just couldn't be bothered with the forums.

Personally, I voted 1B but I'm not adverse to changing stats providers either. It's a great group here but I have to say that if status quo is the result, I won't renew.

Still haven't seen any real clarification but after consideration I voted for 1b.

And that is going to be kind of a moot point for me as I will be retiring from fantasy sports online here at the end of this year. And my retirement has nothing to do with this site.

I have been here for 22 or 23 years now and I have really enjoyed the time spent here. Has it been perfect? No, but the core group of players has been outstanding.

I started out when I was old, and now I am well older. It is time for me to move on. I play in two fantasy football leagues which I will continue for another few years and I'll hang that up too.

I'll post a note regarding my retirement in each of the leagues I compete in as well as the two I LA in.

I wish everyone well

That's it, in a nutshell. They have given us a set, lower price going forward.

Rule 1B would stick with Rotoworld, but adjust our rules to the automated system they have currently. But it would do away with the forums and manual LA entry of transactions (although we will always have LA oversight). There does look to be a lot of flexibility going forward, the initial roster entry is pretty easy, and the leagues have conference rooms that we can use for our auctions (which will NOT change, otherwise we might as well just flush this).

But I also don't know what else is out there. I am underwhelmed by Yahoo and ESPN's football interfaces. OnRoto seems to be better.

But that's my opinion, and since I hardly ever play anymore, I will refrain from voting.

Warning: dumb Cameron question

What are the OnRoto rules options we will have to adhere to that are at variance with our present system? What differences will apply?

Just not at all clear on what the stakes are.

Thanks

Is the $50 for the league or per player moving forward? I guess that is my main concern. If it's per player, I would probably vote to looking into another cheaper site that we could possibly customize to fit our needs. Has anyone looked into Ottoneu?

$50 would be for an entire league. Their going rate is $99.

I'll have to try to look if I can figure out the details of the automated OnRoto system, I just haven't had a chance yet (and probably won't this weekend, either). I do know it's based around a daily bidding cycle, rather than our two day cycle. Maybe one of the other LAs can poke around in the setup and see what they can figure out.

I did look at the sample league, and found this:

It is now 11:55 on 08.25. Free agent bids for the transaction period effective 08.25 are due at 14:00 (EDT) on 08.25. Waiver claims for the transaction period effective 08.25 are due at 14:00 (EDT) on 08.25.
