It looks like there's been some consensus, but let's put it to a vote!

This will be for BOTH the AL and NL leagues.

I'm casting a vote on this one. I'm voting for 23.

Do we really need another $10 pitcher on the rosters? Let's just return to what has continued to be the standard.

I am already on record for a 24 man roster. So that is how I am voting!

I'm voting for 24/270, that's another $1 pitcher and $9 more for hitting!

That's what they call "inflation"!

Close so far. I went with the standard 260.

Maybe I'm just missing it, but...when does the poll close? I'm gonna have to think about this one a little longer. I totally get the "inflation/crappy pitcher" argument, but I also have always looked at the second utility player in an NL league as a chance to make amends for the guy you bought for the FIRST utility slot!

The second utility player was a response to the size of the position player pool. Having two now would make a bad free agent pool even worse. Moving NL leagues to a $260 budget will have drastic deflationary effects that will undermine many keeper lists already harmed by high FAAB dollars.

I agree with Steve and Rick.. us Berra's stick together.. tho I would like to change having to freeze 7 down to about 2 since that's all the keepers I have this year. Embarassed

The math works out pretty neatly here for me. Theoretically, there will be 75 starting pitchers and 15 closers in each MLB league at any given time. In a 10-team Mocksports league using the standard roster distribution, there will always be 90 pitchers owned and "active". (In reality, of course, there will be many semi-active and inactive pitchers on active rosters, especially later in the season.) In other words, "supply" = "demand". Who am I to argue against equilibrium, even if it's purely theoretical equilibrium?

I voted for 23.

This is the first mention of the second utility player. I hated the second utility player - it took ALL (well, okay, not "all", but most) of the strategy out of the auction, because that second UT was almost never filled for most teams until it was too late in the auction to matter.

Dunno. We'll see when the voting slows down (or until we get close to 60 votes - but we never get everyone voting!).

Probably a Sunday, and I'll give a couple of days warning.

I voted already anyway, although all I've accomplished so far is to tie things up. Shocked

The idea of having another pitcher makes me sick to my stomach. I think we should reduce the number of pitchers to four Smile
