Since the bids are secret I see no problem with permitting an owner who changes his mind to change his bid before the deadline. The last bid will count.

what will happen if an LA has to pick up a team in order to keep a league afloat?
that just not going to happen?
if it happens it either puts the LA at a distinct advantage or disadvantage...

just curious

It should not happen, but either (1) the FAAB bids would be sent to another LA or (2) the LA is trusted not to open private messages during the FAAB period (with trades sent to his e-mail address) or e-mail is used with FAAB bids in the title which the LA does not open until the end of the FAAB period.

Unfortunately, it has already happened... I am the LA (until someone wants to take them over in two leagues that I also LA). I am open to either proposition, but in all honestly, I think all bids should go to another LA.

To me it sounds like Steve is volunteering, right Steve?

Doesn't our stat site offer automated FAAB?

Yes, but I am not sure it will permit it for short intermittent periods.

If we aren't going to use automated FAAB, it seems like we are going to create a much larger amount of work for the LAs.

Steve
I do not think so. FAAB will be used on a small percentage of call ups and on vanishingly few waived players. It is just a metter of looking at the bids in those cases and occasionally the standings. Undrafted players are not subject to FAAB unless waived or sent down and called up. Players who clear FAAB are no longer subject to the FAAB process unless sent down and called up or waived.

The FAAB voting booths are up in each league. Vote away!

As for LAs that also have teams in the league, it will depend on the situation.

1 - If a team owner is the LA of the same league out of the necessity of LA staffing, another LA will volunteer (hopefully) to handle the bids. Else it'll have to be me (which, the way this year is going, may slow the process down). The volunteer LA doesn't have to process the transaction, just post the results.

2 - If an LA is running a vacant team, that team will be unable to make FAAB bids.

Hopefully we can minimize both situtations!
