There is an unsettled issue regarding the date on which FAAB begins and ends for players traded between leagues. By rule, OnRoto is our sole source for MLB transactions, but typically OnRoto does not list a traded player's activation date, only the date of the trade. In the case of several high-profile players in recent days (Yu Darvish, among others), this leads to confusion for owners about when the clock starts and - more importantly - when the FAAB clock stops. For Darvish, OnRoto has an effective date for his move to LA of July 31, but he was not added to the active roster by the Dodgers until 8/2. I will be accepting FAAB bids on Darvish until 10 PM on Friday, August 4; any bids submitted before that time will be considered valid, regardless of the date/time they were sent.
I anticipate that the rules will be revised on this point, expanding the definition of "active" for players traded interleague. MLB.com seems to be the best source for the activation date and we will likely incorporate that site as an adjunct source for trades only.
